Department of Defense Makes Brain Training Available through Partnership with Demco Software
[PRESS RELEASE] Demco Software has partnered with the U.S. Department of Defense through the libraries of the Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marines to provide BrainHQ™ online brain training to members of the armed services. Now, a library card is all that active, reserve, and retired personnel and their families need to take advantage of scientifically-proven brain training. BrainHQ is available through Demco’s software platform, which offers 24/7 access to this online resource from the comfort of the patron’s device of choice.
BrainHQ contains dozens of brain exercises to help people think faster, focus better, and remember more, and it is uniquely backed by more than 100 peer-reviewed journal articles on the benefits of its exercises.
In studies across varied populations, BrainHQ has improved performance at standard measures of cognition (speed, attention, memory, and decision-making), standard measures of quality of life (mood, confidence, and health-related quality of life), and real world activities (balance, gait, driving, and everyday cognitive activities). A recently published study found an exercise in BrainHQ was the first intervention shown to reduce dementia risk in a randomized controlled trial, and the exercises are also being used by pro athletes to achieve peak performance.
“The security of our nation relies on our personnel being in the right place, at the right time, with the right qualities and capacities to protect our resources,” shared Kristen Campbell, Chief, AF Libraries Division. “We chose BrainHQ to help service members hone qualities such as lifelong learning, readiness, and resilience. This unique program will help our personnel improve their attention spans, decision making skills, and cognitive speed.”
“We are thankful for the service of the men and women of our nation’s military,” said Dr. Henry Mahncke, CEO of Posit Science, which makes BrainHQ. “It’s terrific that the libraries are supporting readiness, resilience, and recovery with proven brain training.”
More information is available through the four Department of Defense branches, Military OneSource or at all base libraries.
